Jia Nanfeng thoughts.

First of all, who cares about timelines anymore because look how well Koei handles it already– so please go away with “but she’s not involved in the three kingdoms it doesn’t make sense” I knoooow. Go play rotk or something idk… 8(

Okay anyway this is slightly biased on how I had developed her as a personal oc but I really, really honestly and truly think that if they do add Jia Nanfeng into the Warriors series, that she should not be a scheming little she-devil of any sort. Absolutely not.

Initially I thought such a thing would be cool, since at the time I thought it would make sense if she was an evil girl ‘cause of who her father is, but… it doesn’t. It just doesn’t.
Assuming that she’d be added in prior to her status as Empress, her behaving in any corrupt manner doesn’t make sense, like– if she was acting all evil and stuff before marriage, why would anyone consider her as a good option for the emperor to marry? Besides, from all that I have seen, Jia Chong doesn’t wish to corrupt things he cherishes–I think his own children would fall into such a category, and I don’t think he’d be a bad father.

All in all I thought, wow, it’d be such a waste to make her a carbon copy of her father like that.

So I always found the “perky goth” idea very intriguing and wanted to see a Dynasty Warriors character based around that trope, but I didn’t connect it to Jin or anyone from the Jia family until much later. However, should one of Jia Chong’s children fit into such a trope, it’d be… well, awesome, and the only one of his children I see having the best chance at getting this role would be Nanfeng, as she’s the most popular child of his to my knowledge.

Her contrast to her father could build a potentially an unusual and yet wonderful father/daughter relationship (I’m a sucker for those). Aware of his perspective and ways, and yet she still unconditionally loves and respects him. As for his view of her, I’d need a Jia Chong expert on that because my knowledge of the entirety of his personality is probably the size of a bean.

Of course I’d hope that they don’t go extra perky since that gets very irritating, but more like… optimistic about life. Seeing the good in all things, taking advantage of each day and making the best of life–opposite of what her appearance could possibly imply. A beaming smile on her face, eyes a piercing blue like her father’s and yet those eyes are full of life and wonder. Not enough for her to have rose-tinted glasses, of course.

Her relationships with other characters could be interesting, too, as her upbeat behaviour would be different in comparison to the other women in Jin, aka Zhang Chunhua and Wang Yuanji’s more calm/reserved attitudes. A breath of fresh air, I think. And imagine the talk around camp when the soldiers learn who her father is pffff.

Basically, I’d love to see this kind of character flourish and develop– starting from a simple girl who never gave any implication that she could one day turn into such a powerful and fearsome empress in the days to come. If I was any better at coming up with ‘what if’ timelines, I’d totally add that into this post too. There’s that one saying about how there is always an inkling of light found within the dark, and darkness can too be found within the light, and that’s the kind of thing I could see happening. She was the light from the dark, if you wanna be all cheesy and stuff.

I rambled omg but I really love Nanfeng’s potential.
