“You needn’t worry; I have every intention of being truthful,” Mitsunari replied. “So long as you understand that, I will be… less concerned.” He nodded at her words, and moved to take a seat on the couch, carefully moving the cat over as he did. As calm as he was on the outside, he felt incredibly nervous, his mind wandering to several places at once. He mainly feared that this wasn’t his best idea. And, sure, he’d obviously had much better, but this… this wasn’t entirely necessary.

Mitsunari could have just as easily kept everyone out of his life. Three years was enough time for others to move on, and he should have, as well. Moving on had been why he was supposed to feign his death in the first place. He was never supposed to get close, and he had, and his superiors hadn’t liked that. And, yet, here he was, unable to keep away. Unfinished business, he’d called it. Nobody he worked with had to know what exactly that meant.

He looked back up at Nanfeng as she continued to speak, raising an eyebrow. “You were the last person I saw before everything… occurred. It’s, admittedly, also for my own benefit.” Then, his frown deepened. That… didn’t sound good. “No, I’m afraid not. What’s happened…?”

Her cat hardly made a complaint as he was moved, and with eyes still closed, he stretched along the seat next to him. His front claws caught into Mitsunari’s pants and he dragged himself closer to curl up next to him, already making a soft purring noise.

Nanfeng was silent while she continued to make the tea. It was really becoming problematic with all this discomfort in the air. Could he at least relax a little? Dark brows furrowed in frustration at the boiling tea as she poured two cups. She brought out a tray, placing the two cups of tea, a teapot, and sugar cubes onto it. The ravenette carried it out into the family room, and placed it down on the coffee table. She moved her laptop and blanket onto the floor beside the couch and sat down, turning to look at him with a calm demeanour.
